1st Leg DanceSport Challenge 2023 "Grassroots Cebu City Junior Olympics Series Competition"

There was a huge blast of energy from the participants, adjudicators, staff, and the organizers of the DanceSport Challenge 2023 “Grassroots Cebu City Junior Olympics Series Competition”. All of their energies collided shaping a successful opening of the competition last April 15, 2023, at the City Wing Atrium, SM Seaside City Cebu.

The DanceSport Challenge 2023 “Grassroots Cebu City Junior Olympics Series Competition” will be held on the first Saturday of every month until December 2, 2023. A free technical syllabus class will be offered from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, followed by the competition proper from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

PSC Commissioner Edward Hayco

Commissioner Edward Hayco of the Philippine Sports Commission gave an inspirational speech for the participants from Abellana National High School, City Central, Tisa, Labangon, Tejero, Pardo, Guadalupe, Lapu-Lapu City, Bogo City, Danao City, Daanbantayan, and the University of the Philippines.

Mr. Hayco acknowledged the hard work of the dance teachers and gave his appreciation for the dedication of the adjudicators. He instilled the act of gratitude to the children and the act of giving back to the community. By giving back to the community means the heart of volunteerism, sharing what they have learned with others.

Breaking-Cebu Breakdance Group

One of the highlights was the participation of the Cebu B-boy group in the opening of the DanceSport Challenge 2023. The group Breaking-Cebu will compete in Paris Olympics 2024, another Cebuano athlete to be proud of alongside the 31st SEA Games medalists from DanceSport, Michael Angelo Marquez, Wilbert Aunzo, and Pearl Marie Cañeda, Marie Alexis Sy (Bowling), Lois Kaye Go (Golf), Elreen Ann Ando (Weightlifting) and Ronil Tubog (Wrestling), Rheyjey Ortouste (Sepak Takraw), and many more. Cebuano athletes are undoubtedly better than the best!
